We are looking for a Data Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and governance of data across all Euroleague Basketball solutions. This role will have full accountability for the secure and timely delivery of data including the delivery of a Unified Data Platform (UDP), implemented on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This position is critical to delivering scalable and integrated data capabilities across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and enforce data governance policies and processes to maintain data hygiene, consistency, integrity, confidentiality, and security across all systems. Ensure compliance with applicable data privacy and protection regulations.
  • Implement robust security standards and ensure the availability and resilience of data services.
  • Develop and implement automation tools and scripts to streamline data operations, reduce manual effort, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of data architecture, infrastructure, operational procedures, and support protocols. Ensure accessibility and clarity for both internal teams and external collaborators.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to maintain and optimize the design and oversee data architecture and integration flows across a diverse ecosystem of applications and APIs.  
  • Establish and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity protocols.
  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of a centralized, organization-wide UDP in GCP, using native services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage and Cloud Functions. Ensure the platform supports current data and enhances future data needs with a scalable and secure foundation.
 
Tu perfil
  • Proven experience in data engineering or a similar role, with a focus on low-latency data systems.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), especially BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions.
  • Proficient in SQL and Python, particularly for developing and maintaining data pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of modern data integration techniques such as ETL, ELT, real-time replication, middleware, and data federation, and their application in contemporary data architectures.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles, including data quality, access control, and security best practices.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Effective communicator, capable of working cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow within the sports business environment.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in other European languages is a plus.
  • Holder of EU nationality or valid work/residency permit for Spain.

Your mission
